• Graduated from the University of Maryland in 1990 with a B.S. in Elementary Education
• Graduated from the University of North Florida in 1999 with an M.Ed. in Elementary Education
• Taught for 11 years in the Duval County Public Schools
• Tutored for Dr. Edward Taylor as a reading specialist
