Daily Planner The daily planner is our daily communication with each other. Please initial each school night. If you need to send me a note, you can write it in the planner.
Discipline This year I will be using a car and traffic light theme for discipline. Each child has a car with his/her name on it. All of the children start each day off on a green light because I feel everyone deserves a clean slate each day. If a child breaks a rule, a verbal warning will be given as a reminder of what their behavior should be. If the child breaks the rules a second time, his/her car will be moved to a yellow light and he/she will have a 5 minute time out at recess or in the classroom. If there is a third offense, his/her car moves to a red light and he/she will have a 10 minute time out at recess or in the classroom. I will always ask the children to verbalize what they have done wrong and how they can improve their behavior. In their planner, I will put a happy or unhappy stamp each day to let you know how they behaved that day. If your child’s behavior does not improve that day after moving to red, you will receive a phone call at home or a note in their planner.
The class as a whole can earn rewards by filling up our jar with marbles when they earn a compliment for good behavior.
Homework On Fridays your child will be bringing home a homework folder that will contain the weekly newsletter and the homework for the week. The newsletter is very important as it will contain the week’s sight words, spelling words, Bible verse, and homework. All homework is to be completed and returned in the homework folder on Friday morning. If your child does not return his/her homework folder, he or she will have to move his/her car. Only in the event of an emergency will I receive homework late.
