Mission Statement:

Providence School, in partnership with home and church, seeks to prepare each student scholastically, socially, and spiritually for the challenges of the twenty-first century.

Welcome to the Providence Lower School Media Center. I am so excited to be working with all of the Lower School students on literacy skills. We will be learning how to access and use the wealth of information available to us through the media center.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University and a Masters of Science degree from The University of Alabama. I have been married for 24 years and have 4 children. Matthew and Caroline are Providence graduates and Daniel and Nathan currently attend Providence.

I am very happy to have the privilege of working with all of the lower school students to foster an appreciation for reading, studying, and learning in order to prepare them for the success in Upper School. Reading is something I really enjoy doing both for pleasure and for learning more about the world in which God has placed me. Since all of our abilities come from Him, we will honor Him through our media center and use those abilities to glorify Him and further His kingdom.

Our verse for the library this year is: "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord..."  Psalm 19:14

Lower School Media Rules for Kg - 5th grade classes

1. Enter quietly and be seated at tables.

2. Maintain an "inside voice" at all times.

3. Follow directions the first time they are given.

4. Be respectful of others.

5. Be respectful of books, materials, and equipment.

In the lower school library, books are checked out for a two week period. Students whose books are not returned by the due date will be charged a fine of $.05 per day per book. Books may be returned on any day, not just on the student's assigned library day. Fine reminders for late fees or replacement costs for lost or damaged books will be sent home. Payments must be made for report cards to be released.

Please access the Upper School media web site to learn all the links available to our students through our media center.
